ਧਨੰਤਰ ਵੈਦ: ਆਯੁਰਵੇਦ ਦੇ ਮੋਢੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਰਹੱਸ
ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਸਮ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਸਮ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਜੀ ਨੇ 24 ਅਵਤਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 17ਵਾਂ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਧਨੰਤਰ ਵੈਦ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕ ਚਸਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਰੋਗੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਤਾ ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਅਵਤਾਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ।
ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਰਹੱਸਮਈ ਕਾਰਨ:
ਧਨੰਤਰ ਵੈਦ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਪਰੀਖਸ਼ਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਸ਼ਕ ਨਾਗ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਤਕਸ਼ਕ ਨਾਗ ਰਾਜਾ ਪਰੀਖਸ਼ਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਡੰਗਣ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਧਨੰਤਰ ਵੈਦ ਜੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਤੁਰੇ। ਰਸਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਕਸ਼ਕ ਨੇ ਧੋਖੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਸੋਟੀ ਦਾ ਰੂਪ ਧਾਰ ਲਿਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਵੈਦ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਸੋਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਖੁਰਕੀ, ਤਾਂ ਨਾਗ ਨੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਡੰਗ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਧਨੰਤਰ ਵੈਦ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਪਿੱਠ ‘ਤੇ ਡੰਗ ਹੋਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਨਾ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਸਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸਮਾਂ ਨੇੜੇ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
The Legend of Dhanvantari Ved: Knowledge, Life, and Destiny
According to Sri Dasam Granth, Dhanvantari Ved was the 17th avatar sent to earth to enlighten humanity about Ayurveda and cure physical ailments. He appeared when people’s lifestyles and eating habits were leading to widespread disease.
The Conflict with Fate:
His death is a profound story of destiny. While on his way to save King Parikshit from the curse of Takshak Nag (the serpent), he was tricked by the serpent itself. Takshak disguised himself as a wooden staff. When Dhanvantari used the staff to scratch his back, the serpent bit him. Since the physician’s healing power resided in his sight and he couldn’t see the wound on his own back, he could not cure himself.
The Great Lesson:
The story teaches us that no matter how great a healer one is, death is an inevitable truth for every mortal. As Bhagat Kabir Ji says, “The physician dies, the patient dies, the whole world passes away”. It also warns us never to mock or disrespect holy souls.
